Sammo Hung is a down on his luck Chinese boxer living in Canada. Desperate for money, he decides to accept, Maggie Cheung's marriage proposal so she can get Canadian citizenship. Unfortunately, Maggie realises too late that this is part of a complicated con by her boyfriend to cheat her out of money. Suddenly, Sammo and Maggie find themselves broke and Sammo is forced to go back into the ring. As the two find their lives becoming more complicated they slowly discover they are falling in love with each other.
