After a nuclear explosion devastates the city, the three heroines from Part I must reunite to defeat an evil capitalist who controls all the fresh drinking water, and a mad general who wants to take over the government.

Apparently, the cost of making the prequel to this film cost so much by Hong Kong standards that a sequel was always on the cards. This was shot back to back with the original film and uses many of the same sets and ideas. Michelle Yeoh is not in this film as much though and is given little to do in the narrative. The most time is afforded to Anita Mui's character and some of the scenes involving her eating rats in prison are actually quite nasty. Anthony Wong also returns as the bad guy and is actually given a much better part than in the first film under tons of makeup with a very evil sounding voice. However, it all seems to be a bit of a rehash of the first film and contains few standout moments. What action scenes there are seem a bit forced and unimaginative compared to the original. The end sequence is quite good though, and delivers a shock that only Hong Kong films can. Johnny To and Ching Siu Tung again prove that they make a formidable filmmaking team and 'executioners' is clearly up there with the A List Hong Kong movies. The original score is also retained which is very atmospheric.

If it wasn't for the original this would be a very good film. But as it stands it is inferior to the original in almost every way. The cinematography and budget remains the same but little is added to the story. If you haven't seen the original this makes a very good and different Hong Kong movie. It just doesn't quite match what has come before it and adds nothing different.
