Jet Li plays Tsui, former member of the 701 squad, a group of elite professional assassins trained to not feel human emotions. After leaving the squad Tsui finds himself a job as a librarian searching for a normal life. However, his old team try to control Hong Kong and Tsui becomes the Black Mask, a lone vigilante.


After disobeying orders Yim Dong (Chiu Man Chuk) is dispatched to the mythical European country of Lavernia to work for the Chinese ambassador. There he is reunited with his childhood sweetheart (Shu Qi) and incurs the wrath of Kaizo Misihima (Andrew Lin) who is a cult leader from Japan.


On (Chiu Man Chuk) uncovers the secret of his father's brutal murder by Lung, and sets out for vengeance, only to lose an arm after falling into a trap set by bandits. Nursed back to health by a nameless young orphan, On must master the art of one-armed swordfighting, or, like his father, fall victim to Lung's treachery.


Tan (Ti lung) and his servant (Cyntia Khan) save some townspeople and are joined by brother Wong the last survivor of a munitions raid years before . However, their newly found friendship is strained when Tan is framed for treason by the governor and Wong is forced to fight the old eader of the munitions raid.


Jet Li has plays a private bodyguard hired to look after the wife of a rich business man. Christy Cheung is the target of a gang eager to hold her for ransom. Jet Li must use all of his combat skills in order to protect her from the aggresors. Howver, as Li and Cheung spend more and more time together in the line of fire Cheung begins to have feelings for the straight-laced hero...


Leslie Cheung is a reluctant swordsman sent to destroy an evil cult headed by sadistic male and female siamese twins. Conflict ensues when Cheung falls for the cult's prime assassin, the Wolf Woman, played by Brigette Lin. As the two lovers escape the turmult they are both betrayed, leading to a tragic conclusion.


Left abandoned and bitter from the first installment, Brigette Lin, now a white-haired witch, heads an all-female cult bent on destroying the eight martial arts clans from which her former lover, Leslie Cheung, had come. Her own cult comes under attack by a man whose bride was kidnapped by Lin.
